#44171 Im pretty sure Aftermarket LCA's are used because they are more sturdy/stronger than the stock lca's. So they wont break while doing autoX or whatever else.... but I could be wrong! But they look damn good lol

#44173 But what do they do for the car as far as handling and how do they work?

#44174 Oh dang my bad, I miss read your question... ooops! I'll let the professionals explain, cuz im still a newbie also!

#44176 They connect the spindle/rear trailing arm to the subframe providing axis points on each end. Also connecting the bottom mounting point of the shock.

edit: I'm no professional, but that's all I've got :D The suspension geometry is part of the design but we'll need an engineer to explain that.

#44218 Nothing in short - im 1000000% sure you could NEVER break an OEM lca by cornering

Only slight benefit could be weight saving, other than that its all bling

#44221 Well LCA's such as Blox, Skunk2, PIC, ect ect. have firmer bushings then the OEM ones, so it would make the suspension a little firmer, and help with handling, and the overall feel of things

#44223 Certain aftermarket ones offer stiffer bushings. Most of them reduce unsprung weight (slightly). The newest ones have spherical bearings which allow for better axis moverment and longer life than standard rubber bushings.

Really, people buy em for bling. Many people do not waste their cash because breaking OEM ones are rare and replacing OEM bushings w/ poly offerings perform just as well seeing as the weight savings are minimal.

#45109 Ive heard that some rear sway bars will not clear some oem lca's...maybe incorrect but its just what Ive heard.

totally agree. Reasons for buying LCAs can help adjust camber as there are aftermarket LCAs that correct camber. Weight savings is next to minimal as it is still on the pivot joint of the suspension.

majority of the people who do buy LCAs are just mainly for looks. The other main reason is certain EG have no swaybar holes and buying aftermarket gives them the holes in the LCAs.

this maybe from OEM ITR LCAS are they are thicker than the conventional EG ones. I have not heard of anything not clearing the LCA but rather not clearing exhausts. I have issues with ITR LCAS and certain aftermarket exhaust sytems (hence why i broke my apexi worldsport).

Yeah, the ITR ones may cause mounting problems for the endlinks w/ certain sway bars due to the location, maybe. Clearance issues w/ LCA's and sways is real rare. As LowTEC said, exhaust clearance is a big problem. I wanted to use an OEM CTR muffler but my SRR sway will not clear it and I would have to bash a big ass dent in it to clear the bar.
