- Sat Mar 20, 2010 12:55 am #182411 ok so today i was driving along and noticed i had about 1/2 of steering play in the steering wheel. could that be due to a bad wheel bearing or outer tie rod

- Sat Mar 20, 2010 2:42 am #182425 Yes check your inner/outer tie rod. grab the sides of the wheel and try to turn it toward/away from you. If it has play then it is either wheel bearing or tie rod. Next try to wiggle the wheel but wiggle from top to bottom. if it wiggles that way then it is the wheel bearing. tie rod end will wiggle left to right. wheel bearing will wiggle every direction.

It could also be your ball joint(s)
