megan coilovers

I have a set of megan coilover to install on my new shocks (skunk2 sports). Do i need the part of the sleeve that the threads end with a little metal left at the top of the shock or the bottom. Also it says to cut the damper in half should i really do that. thanks

If you want to go as low as possible, put the non threaded part on the top, if not put it on the bottom.
DO NOT cut the shock. What they are talking about is the bump stop. the rubber stop that is on the strut that keeps the shock from bottoming out. You can cut it in half or what ever sections you want.
