hey guys,

i don't know what it is, i have replaced all my bushings with energy parts, got the Pro-S coilovers (basically) from Skunk2, have a stock front sway bar along with the top strut bars front back. yet, grooved pavement on the freeway at speeds >45mph will throw me around and make the ass feel like its swinging around....

just wondering if any of y'all have this problem as well? its probably lowered about 2" with 205/40Z 17's tyres. the only other thing i can do really is add a rear sway bar but that SHOULDN'T be necessary right?

anyway, any thoughts welcome...thanks!

my girls teg does that and so did my other car. its the tires. well at least it fixed the problem for me. and your talking bout the roads were the is little grooves threw it for small sections of raod?

if you're talking about the ruts from big trucks, then yes it is not uncommon. Wider, more square tires seem to cause it more on lowered civics. This is assuming your alignment is still good.

the ruts will tend to pull your steering wheel one way or the other if you are driving without holding it.

hmmm, alright, that makes sense, and yes that's what i'm talking about, the little sections of road with all the little grooves in it vs. just the 2 grooves made by big trucks and stuff...

well, ever since i replaced all the suspension parts and the bushings have worn in, the big truck ruts have gotten a lot better. my alignment is spot on, just aligned it twice a few weeks back...i was more pointing to the maybe 1/8mile sections of freeway that has a bunch of little grooves in it, i'm thinking it might be tires as well?

do you just not notice it anymore? lol

in the teg she still has the same tires and every time we hit those grooved roads the thing feels like its sliden around. but i had the same tires on my other car and it also feelt weird. bought some new tires and it was gone. i have been in a few just stock cars and not lowered or anything and they tend to do the same. cause if it were somthing else you would feel it more often on other surfaces also. so you know its not your bushings right? and you know your suspension is not going to cause that feel? so it kinda narrows it down to the tires. its the main thing touching the ground throw on some diff tires for a bit if ya can and see if it changes.

yeah that makes sense, it was always like this since i got the new tires, but the suspension and bushings were so shitty, i couldnt have narrowed it down until now... thanks man i will look into that, and i say screw it, not gonna let it get to me now!

i dont really have any other 4x100's laying around, only 8x6.5

sounds like mine it is really bad when it is raining deff tires

well damn, although i think these are pretty good rain tires.... never have any issues when we get rain, plus they kicked ass through the snow storm

anyway, do i need to change rim size as well? i mean i can live with it for now, but i'm assuming it's the 17's that are doing it...

well unless you are driveing on these surfaces on a constan bases i would look into new tires. but if you only hit sections for a min here and there like i do i would not even bother.

gsr fat fives, just got new tires. 205/50R15s. my old ones were bad, just go new ones. Same size wheels and tires.
