well every true body man has ther own way of doing it. i could go on and on bout how i do it and some thing you may say thats how you do it and soem that you dont. trick of trade. but ya dont stack that filler up. it will just crack, chip and may fail over time. like you said no more that 1/8th filler or the thickness of a dime. a reall body man will fix a dent as best as possible with hammers and dollies. then just to smoth out the ruffness they use bondo.
