- Mon Jan 11, 2010 1:26 am #167473 Well I bought my first eg about a month ago now and it was originally white but the guy rattle canned it flat black. There were a lot of little nicks around the car that needed to be bondo and sanded in order to regain its shape....I sanded both fenders, the hood, and the driver sider quarter panel in their entirety...I sanded it by hand which I quickly figured out was a pain in the ass....my question is is it ok to take that flat black off the enitre car and then bondo or should I quit now and bondo over the flat black and is ok to use a household sander that I have at home I used it for a wood floor is that ok for the car and also when all is said and done I wanna paint it matte white any suggestions on painting and sandin and please don't send me to the DIY because I need to know from someone who's done an entire car thanks[/quote]

- Mon Jan 11, 2010 2:05 am #167476 when i painted my cars i just made sure the surface was smooth i didnt try to take the full paint out plus you can use it as th primer it is.. just use bondo on the uneven places.. i always sanded it by hand because it gives me the best results and the only this i would use to help is the sanding block...

sometimes different paints dont mix well and you can get some bad reactions

the last bike i did (a ducatti )it was rattle canned black and it reacted so bad with the ppg base i was using and the primer, i had to take it all off before starting my work
