#170275 Hi wondering if anyone can help me out with this.

I have a 94 Civic LSI Hatch and after leaving the car in snow for a week the battery which was slowly worsening in the cold was finally dead.

It has the Honda security system fitted, old Grey fob with just 1 button for locking and alarm.

I knew the alarm was anti battery tamper and sure enough when hooked back up it chirped , flashed and gave me a few seconds then went off.The remote turned it off and the LED went off on the dash just as usual and it alarms and remote locks fine.

The fuel pump engages but there is no cranking at all is an engine mgmt light on the lock phase but not on full start up so i gather its the immobiliser stopping it and wondered how i get round it, surely everyone has had to replace the battery on one and not gone through hassle each time.

I vaguely remember something about turning the key to various positions to override it or is it still a dealer job to re-programme it somehow? Key itself isn't coded so not sure if the fob needs re-doing.

Any idea on cost if it needs doing? Not spent hardly a thing on it in a year, only this battery/immobiliser business and where it was crashed into when parked up , annoying really.

Cheers in advance

#170304 does it arm and unarm like normal?

#170316 Yeah well it chirps and the steering column LED flashes and seems to go off when i press the remote just as usual , so i don't know if it can be un-alarmed but still immobilised or if they are interlinked.

I have been told the Honda ones usually knock out 2 circuits, starter motor and fuel pump.
Fuel pump certainly engages and have smelt petrol last time i tried to start it so don't want to flood it.

Going to give Honda a call in a bit to see if they can atleast tell me if the immobiliser should re-arm with a new battery in , the alarm sure did and de-activated fine , if they say it should have taken both off then i have got a mechanical issue i guess.

Thats if they know much about a 94 security system still.

Going to give the solenoid a tap as i tried to start it with a near totally dead battery a few times and been told it could be stuck, feel lost without my car living in a village in the back of beyond.

#170633 Find the alarm and unplug it. Then try to start the car. That will confirm or eliminate the alarm.

Are you absolutely sure it's an OEM alarm? Dealer alarms are not OEM. Here in the US, factory alarms are pretty rare. I don't think we even got them until 96. But on the 96 the alarm is plugged in to a T harness with the radio. On the Integras it's on a green plug under the dash.
