What mods can I do that....

- Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:05 pm #97798 Well, as stated in another thread, I plan on keeping my stock 92 hatch engine until it goes bad since I travel several hundred miles and up to 1,500 miles in a day for work and get paid by the mile. I get about 40 mpg right now, and it's making me good money, but in about half a year to a year I'll be quitting this job to go back to school for at least 5 years for criminal justice and will be looking to get a stronger engine. I'm thinking about a b16 because I've heard that they are the easiest to put in, and give good power.

Now to the question. What mods can I do to my stock car right now, and they still fit on the b16? I'll be wanting a CAI and exhaust for sure, and wanting an exhaust right now since the one I have now looks like crap with a silencer on it because of the fart can that was on it when I got the car...but I'm not going to spend a few hundred bucks for one and then have to turn around and get another when I get the b16 if it doesn't fit.

I'm looking for mods that will increase HP/Torque and help gas mileage as well.

- Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:16 pm #97800 Personaly when u swap motors id go for a B18 (a,b,c), more hp and tq and in most cases will cost alot less then the B16 (torqueless wonder), but a CAI and exhaust r pretty uni between Ds and Bs, im sure some others will chime in with some more info for ya :D

Okay, well, the exhaust will work, just a lil modding needed since the header lengths are different on the Bs. The only good intake will be a 3 inch system. the D series ones are too small.

- Sat Feb 21, 2009 12:22 am #97823 yeah not a whole lot... short of a turbo kit then just get a different manifold when you swap in the B. But that's not cheap. I'd focus on suspension and brakes so that when you get more HP under the hood your car (and you) will be able to handle it :thumb:
