ok just got this civic and the driver door lock is acting weird. it will lock only when i hold the door handle to the open position from the inside. If I am not holding that then it will not lock.

they do that so that you cant lock your keys in the car. if you close the door it will lock from inside otherwise you have to hold the handle :thumb:

are you trying to lock it with the key with the door open if so try with the door closed and if there is still a problem maybe the lock rod isnt hooked up the the lock cylinder in the door?

It doesn't let me lock it with the door locked either, but correct me if I am wrong wouldnt if the lock rod wasn't connected wouldn't the door not unlock from the outside with the key like it does?

I like them, I always lock then doors from inside, Just hold the handle open and press the lock down, In Coupes and Hatches its easy as they are right next to each other. I can do it one handed. In the Sedan its a little harder as they are farther apart and you need both hands for it.

Its not just an EG thing. My EK Hatch and DC Integra Hatch do the same thing.
Once you do it long enough its habit.

Excuse the back explenation cause im new with cars, but I just removed the door panel, and when unlocking with the key the rod would move fine but when i locked wit the key it moved a lil then was jammed.

Solution: WD40 and brute force. :thumb:
