How to romove the hatch wiper motor/lock?

Well my car was broken in to, and the hatch glass shattered.

I bought a new glass from someone here, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do about it.

I don't have the wiper blade, didn't before either and didn't need it, but how do I get that big black hunk of whatever it connected back to the glass? Isn't part of it the lock for the hatch by any chance?

I've spent a lot of time looking for this information, but I can't seem to find ANYTHING even related to it. I'm hoping to have my car ready to be primed this weekend(it's rained most of this week and slowed me down), and was hoping to figure this out by the time I get the hatch glass put back in after it's pained since it has to be taken out to tape the car up properly.

Did you try to take the black box cover off? If so, there should be a screw for the wiper and a screw for the other side.

I got mine off yesterday. I can't believe I didn't see the 2 screws on the bottom!

Thanks a lot guys.

But another question real quick. Say I shaved the moldings on the hatch, by welding it shut and then using body filler to make it look clean. Would that cause any problems after a while? I mean, something on the inside not fitting correctly, or not being able to open it would cause problems fixing something maybe?
