hey guys, can anyone help me with my car?

I started it this morning and it was fine. Started it again later on the morning and the revs were high, as usual (choke)..
then as temperature rose as normal, the revs were still high as if choke was still on. this is at about 2.5k rpm.

the whole way it was like this.

and the revs wont let me get any higher than 3.7k rpm, it would cut out as if it was red lining. i also noticed that there was hardly any power. so i got home and opened the bonnet and saw some smoke around the outsides of the engine, this couldn't have been overheating because my temperature was perfectly fine. my friend suggested that it could be a sensor?

does anyone have any ideas?

please help a brother out haha

cheers guys! have a great day!

sean :)

your timing could be off by a tooth when it is the ecu will go into safe mode and wont you rev higher than 3.5 or 3.7 it will also idol real fucked up sometimes high of sometimes low. if its not your timing or ecu check your distributer. then again if you distributer is off that means you timing is off

Do you have a check engine light? If so, read that and it will tell you what's wrong.

Timing belt off by one tooth won't necessarily do that. I did a head gasket on a B16A3 a while back and the intake cam was one tooth off. Still ran and wrapped all the way out to redline. Same deal on the single cam.

My car does the same thing.

It'll idle up and down as if someone's holding the gas.

But when I warm the car up and get the temp up the car won't idle.

I'm thing it's my air idle control.

Anyone have any ideas?

its most likely your IACV take it off clean it and put it back on.

tekdya the sensor should read 4 meaning when you test it the check engine light will blink 4 times then stay on for a few seconds then repeat the code again
