eg B18 swap

Looking for some help with repair to my car. When I purchased it the swap was complete but the car didn't run very good.
I have had it to several mechanics but no one is sure what is up.
The P75 ecu that I have has some type of adapter that plugs into the original wire harness from the civic. This adapter has " for off road use only " How can I tell if this is a correct adapter?
Is there a website that sells the adapter for the the the ecu?
How do I know if my ecu is 0bd1 or 0bd2?

well i can tell you know its obd2 or obd0 you can tell if obd0 if theres a little clear circle with a red light inside but mreo than likely its a obd2 ecu you can tell by the plug ports somewhat because on teh obd2 ones on some at least there is an extra port not used dont think it even has pins in it but anywho....
if it wont plug into your obd1 harness than its eitehr of those two obd0 or obd1 reason it says its for off road use only its pretty much a saftey thing against lawsuits i think anyhow yea if your running obd1 injectors and obd1 dizzy and a obd2/0 ecu your car wont run correctly....the ecu distributor and the injectors all have to be the same obd

thanks. I appreciate the help. This 93 hatch is stumping everyone around these parts.
Where I lived in Virginia it was common practice and knowledge for garages to have worked on these mods, but here in Maine no one knows.
You have helped me before, so thanks again.

Just as a side question, if I am running Obd1 everything and there is an adapter connecting to the ecu that should mean that it is the wrong ecu. If it is all Obd1 then it should plug in directly.
my setup is this. 94 ls b18 not sure ab or c. 99 civic si tranny 93 civic hatch
p75 ecu.

If you don't know what engine you have you can look at the stamp and confirm it.
On a Honda, if the ECU doesn't plug right in, then it's a different OBD generation. You could plug an OBD1 Accord ECU into an OBD1 Civic, Integra, etc.
It stands for On Board Diagnostics.
It was mandated by law. Honda and many other companies had their own OBD, then the gov't created one standard. That way mechanics could have one tool that works on all cars and you wouldn't be forced to go to the dealership.
The first standard was in 92. OBD1. Then they updated it creating OBD2 in 96. Then the updated it very slightly in 2000 creating OBD2b.
The main reason for it all was to have the ECU monitor all the emissions equipment and report failures since the majority of air pollution comes from cars that aren't running properly.

obd2 = "same" second generation
obd is the code base fault system that gives you your engine light and codes to aid in repair diagnosis
before codes came out there was efi witch didn't give codes when it fucked up or carb you just had to figure it out on your own. the computers couldn't self diag. but mainly it went from carbs to obd

yep! i just wish for obd 1 they wouldve come up with something different than a blinking light

lol but at least it works right?

That was only honda's way. but I think if you had a honda scanner you could check it with that.
when obd 1 first came out there was no regulations for connectors so every make had there own connector and also there own unique scanner.
you could buy aftermarket scanners but they were never as great as the dealer one. witch is why people just went with the blinking light.
