- Tue Jun 03, 2008 6:50 am #57390 i just got a 92 civic si hatchback, or so i thought. i never really been into the import scene. my friend was checking out my car and he told me that my car wasnt an si? he knows more about cars than i do, so i want to know how i can tell if my car is an si or not.

- Tue Jun 03, 2008 10:45 am #57402 A true Si hatchback will have the engine : D16z6. To find that out, pop your hood. Then look at your engine. By the exhaust manifold on the right side you are going to see a few numbers.... what does that say?

See the exhaust holes with paper inside them? The far left you will see a flat spot and it has the engine code there. Another way to know if you have an Si or not is: Does you hatch have a moon roof?(I think all Si's came with them) Does your car have power steering ? Does it have air conditioning? This will tell you if you have an Si or not. Also, Do you have a rear window wiper blade?

Oh yeah.. this motor you are looking at is a Si motor from the hatchback model you have.

- Wed Jun 04, 2008 12:03 am #57475 Yep, the easiest way to tell, is the Mirrors and Moonroof. The mirrors and door handles are painted the same color as the car, and you get rear disc brakes. Motors can always be changed.

just to clarify MOST DX hatch backs have rear wipers, A/C, and power steering. CX's (most of them anyway) have A/C with pleather seats, VX some of them have A/C and front lip. anyways Some cars are AC cars some arn't
and yes all 88+ civic Si's have sunroof's standard
