Hi,

My speedo is displaying the wrong speeds... it says i'm going too fast when i am not at all.

these are approx, but

at 25mph actual, it says 32
at 35mph actual, it says 44
at 45 mph actual, it says 55

is there anything that could be causing this besides having a broken cluster? the cluster was swapped out, so could that be the problem? the previous owner did the swap so i don't know much history on why it was done or what kind of cluster is in there now, just trying to find some direction on how to go about fixing this... i don't want to buy a cluster and find out that that wasn't the issue

thanks!

it can be the cluster... I dont think its your vss.. but it wouldnt hurt to check... what motor do you have and what civic did the cluster come out of when the previous owner swapped it? O.o

do you have the right size tires on the car?

^^ what he said.

And did the cluster work fine prior to the problem?
if it's been ever since you swapped the cluster, most likely somebody tampered with it and messed it up. possibility is a faulty VSS sensor also.

yeah, i thought about the tires thing, but i've got something like 195/55/r14 tires on, they are almost stock size i think. i've got the CX model with a d15 or 16b7 engine. the cluster doesn't have a tach or the automatic gear display on it. it just has engine temp, speedo, and fuel. maybe it is a wrong kind of cluster?
