First car.. EG HATCH?

- Tue May 26, 2009 4:09 am #118744 I am looking to get my first car sometime this summer (im only 15) and im getting my license in a month and im confused about the hatch interior.. Do any of them come with power locks other than the si model?.. also would i be able to swap out door panels and put in the motors and wiring for power windows also? Im not worried about the engine and the 1.5 and 1.6 sohc cuz i plan to put in a b series anyway before school starts again.. The reason i want to know this because i really want all power windows/locks and have been thinking about getting and ej1 but i like the hatchy look alot better

ex and si models come with power locks and windows. if you get a dx model you can make it power also, but just as you mentioned you would need the wiring and the motors and stuff. wat b series u planning to get?

ohh and uhhh coupes>hatches lol

- Tue May 26, 2009 3:10 pm #118788 si hatches don't come with power windows or power mirrors. None of the 92-95 hatches came with power anything. The Si hatch came with a sunroof and power mirrors. That's all the power you're going to get from a hatch. The only way to get power windows and power locks is to get it from an ex coupe. Dx coupes don't have power anything either.

I'll break this down:

Si hatch: power mirrors and sunroof. No power locks. No Power windows
Dx hatch: nothing power. no sunroof
Cx hatch: nothing power. no sunroof
Vx hatch: nothing power. no sunroof

EX coupe: Power everything
DX coupe: Nothing power, no sunroof

basically if you are to get a hatch you're going to have to get the power window stuff and power locks off an ej1 (ex coupe)

- Tue May 26, 2009 11:38 pm #118868 yea ej1 FTW! no damn family sedan haha.. ya im planning on a b20.. possible k20 idk one of my buds does great swaps he had a 92 cx hatch run 10.33 on b20 turbo w/12lbs. boost... coupe would be a little slower but looking for a quick daily driver not a drag car :)

- Tue May 26, 2009 11:43 pm #118871 hey the sedan is just as good as any other. there the same length as a coupe but have 2 more doors and i belive they weigh like 50lbs less than a coupe! :thumb: a hatch would be my last choise unless i wanted to just go fast. a coupe is just a happy medium and the sedan well is da shit :woot:

- Wed May 27, 2009 5:54 am #118906 well ive been a hatch guy since my fist car but i love sedans tho so i cant disagree. lol had a db7 before. not a ej but a sedan. have yet to have a coupe but i was considering while looking for my next hatch.

my 93 si has power mirrors, pwr steering, and a pwr sunroof. and ac. standard for the si. thats the most you can get as far as standard/optional power. making pwr locks and pwr windows is for sure possible as said before. but a si will run you a dollar or two $$. and being your 15 dont get into debt like that yet unless you have the $ already. just get a dx or cx and upgrade step by step. get a swap etc.

havnt had a ej coupe or sedan so dont have input on those but my buddy has a b16T coupe and its sick as hell. i like the ej coupes better than sedans

- Wed May 27, 2009 3:20 pm #118957 I have had two coupes and now I'm on a hatch..I like coupes but the rear end doesn't do shit for me. The hatch rear is more stable and handles better. I liked having a coupe because not too many people around my area fixed up coupes. Everyone was into hatches. But after totaling one and one getting stolen, I took over my bf's hatch and I like it a lot. Handles a lot better than either one of my coupes did and I like the fact that the hatch has more options for it than the coupe. More aftermarket parts and what not.

If you're going b20 turbo make sure you build the motor. My friend blew his b20 turbo at 120mph and it wasn't built. So take the time and do it right.

true that. hatches handle overall better than most others. all depends if you do sus. the right way and dont cut corners.

if your going to turbo yes do it right if your building. but boosting a stock block is very possible/reliable/& affordable. all depends on the tune/blok health/ & how heavy of a foot you have. id suggest LS turbo over b20 turbo any day.

do everything correctly once.
