#112742 or you could do a Volvo 242 with a twin turbo'd vette motor lol.....its safe and fast sorta as long as you hook up youd be fine lol....and volvo's are the ultimate sleeper.....

Or you could easily find a bmw e30 84-91 i think bmw 3 series they all have a lot of potential not so much a sleeper i guess unless you think older cars are slow.....or if you think about it look at a bmw e24 or 6 series before they made the new pos even though that engines full of potential lol....anywho bmws probaly not the best for the back seat room and sleeper status...but fun yes they are...

But in all honesty id choose either a honda or a volvo gotta say its kinda strange i went from a bmw to a honda to a volvo to honda.....and volvo's every one has the same motor as long as its i think pre93 and before ford took it over they are uber reliable (yea i used uber today) and easily turbo'd since they used the same motor just put different injectors, exhaust manifold and ecu and if you have doubts about a volvo check out turbobricks.com theres some serious rides there and with the money you save buying a volvo you can probaly buy a honda lol have two cars to tinker with....

And if you think a volvo dosent have aftermarket support its because youve never looked lol there are plenty of sites and IPD is a good site as well for suspension and stuff like that

And wow theres alot of ands here.....anywho if you took a Volvo lets say a 244 or 4dr 240dl turbo'd it or went and dropped in a 5.0 motor or something into it the stock seats can be modified to put in prelude seats which of coarse are nice and comfy....And lets see....upgraded the suspension a bit nothing fancy maybe lowering springs and strut bars. you could end up with something sweet or if you look at older volvos like the p1800 which beleive it or not is a volvo sports car or their i think it was pv something 344 maybe its this

Image

Youd be looking nastalgic safe and reliable lol and youd have a hot rod volvo the ultimate sleeper....Image

just for hahas thats the volvo p1800

Image

And thats a 242

Though the original volvos used all the same motor and parts are a little harder to find theres still aftermarket support and always a motor swap.....

But yea the volvo 200/700/and 900 series all had the same motor a B230 and finding parts easy as making a no bake phili cheese cake lol.....and modifying them is easy to do as well....and finding one in good shape is easy too though manuals are a 50/50 chance in them they are out there and the 5spd conversions are as well though a bit more involved than a civics its still a easy job to do in ones garage.....

Well the only saab that i would probaly trust is the sonett but good luck finding parts for thsoe lol.....yea older saabs did come turbo'd and stuff like that but to me i dont trust saabs all that much and they where well to be honest fugly. to be really honest i like the wide body race car saabs of the 80's but not the street version i mean yea i do see some today here and there but they are well rusted or blowing blue smoke out the tail pipe....

Volvo's and honda's are good and reliable and can be made into sweet machines. i mean yes toyota has their mr2 but parts are getting hard to come by for a reasonable price.....plus they arent much of a sleeper let alone a family car (2seater)....

And yea also If i didnt have my honda right now id be driving a Volvo i ended up selling my 940se just to drive my honda hatch that i have now....the only problem with that 940 was probaly the part where they only made autos in the US but over in europe they had 5spds and you couldnt for some reason use the 200/700 series M47 5spd or the M46 4spd with Overdrive......you had to only use the M90 5spd kinda wierd but yea....was thinking about a 5spd swap but never did it since i had my 5spd honda.....

Also something to look into Volvo made a rwd DOHC 16v motor in their 7 series cars that most people drop int otheir 240's and turbo ive came across one before snagged the valve cover lol just because but yea. Volvo makes good reliable cars that most of the time the bodies go before the motor if it was taken care of. But yea besides that I really dont have anything else to base anything off of since im going from my past experiences with cars. And all ive owned are Bmw's/ volvo's/and hondas id stay away from audi ive tried workign on one before not very frendly to the diy'r very cramped.....

Gotta say the Volvo by far has the most work space ive seen in a car and besides the honda which is the second largest...the volvo can really do alot of sweet things that no one would think possible.....

Such as drifting (the links are too youtube video of a member of turbobricks.com pretty much built up the sohc volvo motor and also threw in his build thread)

Build thread
http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthrea ... =drift+242

you tube is screwing up on my computer so just search Volvo 242 drift and you will find it......

But yea anyhow i think one of the better aspects of owning a Volvo its safe in the aspect of being in a wreck yes but also what theif is going to break into a Volvo if it looks like nothings been done to it....plus im sure they would have a hard time as well....

The only draw back i see is probaly the age but like any car i really dont care because it can always be fixed and another good part about a volvo is like i said earlier its relatively inexpensive to buy one in decent condition. you probaly would have enough money left over to get a parts volvo and another honda with 5k depending on if you left everything the way it was lol.....

But its really all up to you in the end whats best for the situation family etc since now that you got one of them you have to apply them into the calculation as well and just for a quick sweet pic here is the volvette (built by another guy at turbobricks

Image

yea its a wagon lol

#112803 thanks classiccarsrule. at least you answered me even though i was being a bit "daft" :eh: my question was to see if the people who owned and modded these cars were happy with them, or if given another chance, would buy something else. i see just how much everyone loves eg's and that if they had the money they would build them all over again. sorry if that was a bit "daft" of me. anyways, i think i'll stick with looking for an eg for now, there's just too many positive's going for them. thanks all
