#324995 if you have the money and time to build a fully built turbo b series why not just go K?

the technology behind the k is superb.

Hondas engineering around the K, well you can achieve 300whp with a k24/k20 frank with minimal parts, kpro, decent exhaust. N/A all day long. reliable. fast, and did I mention 6 speed?

the weight is about the same as a b series and they look sexy

#324997 I could argue that but were in the b section of the forum

#324999 That's why I said the fastest. Last time I checked, Chris Miller, James Kempf and Tony Palo were all still on B series.

#325001 ok good for them.. lets look at any year of civic... fastest ones are k and f... f as in the s2k engine not the accord...

#325002 Made us a new thread.

I love honda tuning. "Plum Crazy" in the current mag is my buddy Mitch and my buddy Jason was mentioned as a winner at IFO so I had to pick up a copy.

Don't get all mad, the K's will catch up.

#325006 To be honest I still enjoy the B series more. Mainly because I am more familiar with breaking them down. Damn motors are like legos haha.

Like i said i dont know much about k swaps in the EG but arent there some clearance issues on the bottom end with this swap? Or am i thinking H2B swap?

#325011 some people have clearance issues with the k swap, but to be honest one should purchase a traction bar anyway when doing a swap like this, the traction bar saves your oil pan definitely, im lowered 1" and I have yet to scrape the k with a speed bump.

the b series is still an impressive engine. like ive said before im a machinest, so tearing down any engine is cake to me, bolts, bolts, and look more bolts...

the k series has more advantages to it than the b.

#1, heads stock flow better than the b18c5, b18c1, b16

#2, stroke and bore on the 2.0 is fantastic

#3, 2.0L and 2.4L with oil squirters in the real I-vtec verisons...

#4, all have a form of vtec, single stage or dual stage (dual like b16) (single like sohc d16z6)

#5, solid girdle main cap design

#6, more potential for power gains on a k than that of a b

I can keep going on and on...

here are the downfalls to a K

#1, expensive as FUUUUU....

#2, some oil pan clearances

#3, can never put another Honda engine in your bay (unless you keep your tranny frame mount.)

#4, kpro is $1000

#5, tuning the kpro takes more time because of the I vtec function (6+ hours) way more expensive than the s300 for b

#6, crap. I cant think of any more cons....

if you have the right information you can do a k swap and piece everything together correctly.

the b is old in my book, time for a new young blood... the sound of the I-vtec system to me is so sexy compared to my old b series.

I got sad when I drove my B last time. I sold it. bought another k and looking for a hatch now....

Actually if you already have a ep3/rsx ecu kpro is now only 699$. I might be getting my ecu kpro'd with tax money. K series engines seriously require less maintenance. The coils last forever. The timing chain could last the life of the motor. The only things i would add are, hybrid racing timing chain tensioner, and the upper chain guide from the 06-2011 si. Now i dont care for the newer k series cars that are throttle by wire. But you can always run a cable throttle body on them and swap a few sensors.

#325084 k's are better motors, hands down.

if i had it to do over again, id have went k and not na b series.
