#49664 I am planning a honeymoon in July and my sister recommended me to a local travel agency since I never used one before. She said they did a great job helping with their honeymoon a couple years ago.
Last week I called the agent & told him what we want, and he suggested a couple places in CA. One of them was San Francisco. He gave me a quote for 6 nights @ the Sheraton Hotel at Fisherman's Wharf + non-stop round trip airline tickets = $1175 each person, so about $2400 total.
So I did some research online last week and there's a lot of stuff out there we would be interested (and it was a killer deal) in so I left him a message over the weekend saying "We'll take it"

Yesterday we played phone tag, and today he calls me and tells me the price is $409 for each ticket and $400/night for the room. So $820 + $2400 = $3200!
I was like, Hey, that's $800 more than you said it would be. And he said that prices on things fluctuate.
I told him that's way too expensive, and he said he'll look into other hotels and call me back.

I looked on line and the $3200 dollars is the exact same price as if I booked the flight & reservations myself.
Right now I don't even see the purpose of a travel planner, feel like I'm getting the shaft here...
Aren't they supposed to get you good deals or am I mistaken?

Anyone know any good agents in the Akron area? I think I'm going to say screw this agent and try another.
