sentra problem

- Mon Jan 19, 2009 11:41 pm #90221 lately my girls 01 sentra gxe (1.8, 2.0???) has been getting horrible gas mileage! i've taken her car on two occasions to albuquerque, new mexico and back (el paso, texas) and gotten there on about 4/5 of a tank total of around 600 miles, but lately when i took it this weekend and last weekend i filled it up with premium to albuquerque and it wasted the whole tank! so i thought ok maybe it was the premium.... nope i filled up with regular and same deal! this weekend when i went in her car i tried a new gas cap, fixed the problem for the first 100 or so miles but after that it sux again! so i wanna know what i can check to see whats up? i just changed the oil abou 1000 miles ago, spark plugs, and air filter. a while ago it was giving me the check engine light for the o2 sensors or catalytic conv. but it seems like the problem went away??? the light hasn't come back on and i didn't do anything to fix it.... any help??

- Tue Jan 20, 2009 8:25 am #90454 Well it could be manu things but, I had a 91 sentra and I had the same problem, I did a full tune up and it helped a little(plugs, oil change, seafoam in the fuel, O2 sensor, cap, rotor, air filter) Then I got the exaust fixed and that help alot, make sure your entire exaust system is good, CAT., muffler, resonator.

so i guess they have problems with the exhaust? im goign to try and get it checked out. thanks you guys!

anything else you think i should check?
