going to jail. can military help???

- Tue Dec 01, 2009 4:09 am #159219 long story short just got a driving on suspended 5, reckless, eluding and no registration. I graduated from Fork Union Military Academy and Im wondering if I join the army or national guard if I can keep my ass out of jail and go make some money... any input

I mean the only charge that really is going to carry time is driving suspended. last one was 30 days. evading police is one weekend im not worried about that. my girl is heated and I can go away to jail aain and I need to do something with my life and finish my hatch. I just think that they should be able to make those charges disapeer.

I do not know if this will affect you or not but when I joined up people with any kind of records got shitty jobs to start off with. One guy that joined up where I did got a job clearing the ground for new buildings and digging ditches because of his problems with the law.

- Tue Dec 01, 2009 4:58 am #159244 Yea that will help you for sure. You should go in as an E-3, but no less than an E-2. I'm not sure about the pay for guard or reserve I was active duty, but you should bring home a few hundred a month. The guard might change from state because they are ran by what ever state you live in, but idk that for sure. If you add some stuff like going airborne you will get extra pay.

- Wed Dec 02, 2009 1:30 am #159463 When you do your basic training, schools, 2 weeks in the summer, or get deployed you get paid just like active duty, but when you are just doing the one weekend a month you get drill pay so it will vary. You will also get benefits like the G.I. bill, tuition assistance, and different stats offer different benefits for the guard.

I just talked to the recruiter briefly and he is coming to pick me up tomorrow at 11am. He seemed cool. any ideas about the sighning bonus. they say up tp 20k or something but whats average?

obviously the smarter you are, the better pay.

what's suspended 5? what kinda jail would you go to? are you getting a felony? is this in the us?
