#194939 Alright guys... I am literally steaming right now. I need help and opinions.. Its a pretty long story BUT a while ago when i first bought my car I had to do emmisions here in Denver. So i go to the emissions and wait for 45 minutes just to get booted off the dyno because my wheels are to big, low profile tires. So I have to find some stock wheels just for the front too pass emissions. Im using the original owners tags so I have to do it quick. I go to a local shop and they do me the awesome deal of letting me borrow 2 steelies for 20 bucks. The thing is that the rims came with lugs i didnt have the key to. So the guy has to take them off with a torx bit. This is the crucial part. I pass emissions and get my wheels back. A good amount later i decide its time to switch out the lugs for some i bought with a key. So i go back to the place that originally did it for me. They didnt have the torx bit they had so i bought myself one and started switching out the lugs. I get to the last lug on the front left wheel... and its CROSS THREADED!!! FUCK!!! I go to the shop hoping that they will fix it for free seeing as they fucked it up. I argue with the owner for about 10 minutes and he tells me to pay for it because theres no way he put it on wrong. He said the heat fucks them up sometimes. I think thats bull shit because thats the only lug thats cross threaded. I think hes trying to take advantage of me seeing as im pretty young. Please help. what should i do??

Fuck... Im just realizing theres nothing i can do... What fucking pieces of shit...

#194978 it could be the shop that cross thread it or it could have been cross threaded already.

but why trip and just remove the stud and get new ones.

No they cross threaded it, because they took them off before without a problem and the guy put it on with an air tool. Im not saying its wrong but mistakes are easier made like that. I know i never get mad but it just made me mad how he accused me and told me to either pay or get off his property and crap when he knew for a fact there was no way I messed with them until today. Its just a waste of time and money for me you know? I know its not too much of a hassle but nowadays its hard for me to come by hard earned money. I was just being really nice to him because he did me the huge favor of letting me use the steelies (and civic wheels are ultra hard to come by) and he still cussed me out and stuff like i was the bad guy. Sorry if im ranting but this IS posted in the garbage thread :D

I almost told that to the guys face but im just too nice :P well I tried to look them up on google maps to get all the info because thats the first thing i thought of but they are such a small business they arent even on the map! lol its cool guys. Karma is a mean bitch and I know his shop is going to burn down... BECAUSE IM GOING TO BURN IT DOWN!! Haha just kidding. Ill be sure to point it out to everyone in denver though!

#195021 call the BBB and file a complaint

techs are "SUSPOSED" to use a torque wrench in a cris cross pattern to tightin down lug nuts..

you can strip the threads, warp rotors, if not torqued properly.. so that means they shouldnt be using a impact gun nor should you.. i

call them, if you persue this you can actually get the shop in trouble
and the BBB and/or OSHA can shut them down if there not up to par :thumb:

#195032 I snapped a stud last week because a shop put the lug on with an airgun. I was pissed but then I popped it out and put a new one on in 15 min.. not a big deal.
