#42922 sometimes I wonder if love for cars is hereditary.

My dad was a car guy and He had a few 'project cars'. As young as I can remember I always loved cars. I liked hotwheels and any books with cars were my favorites. My first word was "wheel".
I got into installng rediculous stereo systems when I started driving, and really started to do mechanical stuff a few years later after the novelty wore off of having a stereo in your car that would rattle it apart.

I love working on my civic, I wish I had more time to do it!

#42927 My Dad has always worked on his own cars, He grew loving to do So. I have also gained that love. A month doesn't go buy where we don't do Something with a Car. We are more or less the mechanics of the Family. But I like it, So its all good. :thumb:

For Example this last month, one of the head light bulbs in my Dad Geo Metro LSi Went out. They are impossible to find so we Fabricated my OEM EG Civic Headlight Housings in the Geo.

#42930 My dad has always worked on cars and he was on a pit crew for a drag car and he always was taking me and my brothers to work on it and to the track. I fell in love with cars but my brothers are a few steps behind when it comes to cars. I enjoy it as a hobby but I dont like it being a profession.

exactly, I like working on my own stuff or friends cars... but I'd hate to work at a dealership or garage where people bring their neglected filthy vehicles in all day long. [smilie=puke.gif]

#42951 Wow....I am the exact opposite of you guys.....my dad never worked on cars, I was surprised he could change a tire, he always just took the car to a mechanic.....and its only within the last 2 years that I started down this path....I still have lots to learn but man is it easier with the internet and all these forums..

#42974 I dont think its in the blood but just sumthin that is taught. My Dad was kind of into car's but not as much as his brother was, but i really didnt get into car's until my older brother did, and when i was young i looked up to him and tried doin everything he did so i got into it and fixing em up. Its somthing i just learned to love. But i dont have as much patients and stuff as my brother, he definitley loves workin on cars more then i do.

My story is very similar to this. My brother got into modding his CB7 and I just really liked it, so I kind of followed suit with my Civic. My father tinkered around with his cars when he was my age, never anything major, but he did enjoy the entire car scene, much like I do.

#42990 my dad and his brothers would love working on cars. but I never came to it until i started driving. I think alot of what I do to the car, is a matter of making the car more convience to me. more power to pass, better seats, better suspension, etc. My dad has been like that majority of his life with all products. Like household things would suck at something, we would modify it to make it better. same thing goes with computers...then ultimately our cars. haha.

+1 my dad has always liked cars, but he didn't really wrench on them that much, i think my car bug is bigger then his was, cause i like to do stuff to my car, i really enjoy it. i just wish i had the capability to do it more :( i never have the time to do so. and when i do have the time, i cant get into my stepfathers shop, and i cna't do it in the driveway.

And driving.... ooh boy do i love driving, i can't wait to be able to pound through the gears again. how i miss that so..

#43025 Sometimes I wonder if I am in the wrong career. My job deals with a lot of moron clients sometimes, and I hate depending on other people and having them fail on me, especially when there's so many deadlines.

To hang out in the garage working at my own pace on my car without having any morons affect what I'm doing is so relaxing :)
Once in a while I get pissed when shit doesn't go as it should, but that's just part of working on cars. Then when your car is complete, everyone sees all your hard work as you drive it down the road and you feel great seeing your creation come to life :woot:

Exactly! I love to drive around a car that is one of a kind, something out of your own head!

I think its in your blood also. My grandfather worked on the occasional car, and he was really good with his hands. My father worked on cars as a kid/teen sad tho he grew into a mechanic for 25 years. Now he wants nothing to do with them. I hope my kids will also be into cars! but thats up to them.

They don't fit perfectly, however they are in there, Bolted in, and wired up.

One crazy thing is that Honda switches the power going to the headlights. However Geo(or Suzuki in this case) Switches the Grounds to the headlights, After some Experimenting, everything is in working order.

My dad is happy as he can see going to work early in the morning.
