Like i said in my earlier post the k series has been out for nearly 9 years thats hardly new??

They still use k series engines in fd2 type r's and accords and civic type r's

I didn't say they no longer make it, I said they came out with a new motor after only having it for 4 years K20 came out in 2002 and the new civic's came out in 2006 lets put our grade 1 math to our test

2006 - 2002 = 4

Sorry it was actually 2001 that it came out (2002 in North America) for 5 years it was out before they came out with a new motor.

Also, No where did i ever say that the K series was not a powerful motor, I'm saying that you can make a B series run just as well as a K series, and more then likely it will last twice as long, 1 miss shift in a K series and boom, you're back to the drawing board. They just aren't as reliable as the B series

Yeah they can all be reliable, but at what cost?
from what i hear/understand the b will be the most reliable. any engine can be reliable with enough money. b is your cheapest and performes just as well, if not better in some cases then the k-series which was the point of this thread.
People are jumping into these k20's and blowing them up and overheating problems like a bitch.
Where as the b-series, been around since 1988 is known for greatness.

Yes 2001 they came out in,
And they also come in the civic fd2 so lets do the math shall we,

2001 - 2009 = 8 years (nearly 9)

Like someone else said they came out with a new motor but it has not replaced the k series has it? nope,

And as for mis-shifting wtf?
If you miss shift in a b series i can guarantee you your engine will be 100% toast after.

Like i said before stock for stock a b18c Vs a k20a k wins all day long on power and torque,

So if you swap a stock k in your car its going to be faster than swapping in a stock b.

Obviously coming from someone who doesnt have one :thumb:

Ya sure honda didnt know what they were at when they designed it, sure what the hell would they know about making an N/A engine,

The s2000 f20 only held the record for best bhp per tonne for a N/A at one stage, must of gotten lucky.

#138660 hold on hold on

B series

you can build a 2.0 cams pistons valve springs retainers headers, exhaust tune

make atleast 200ish hp

K20a2

stage 2 cams
I/H
tune

you can make at least 250 with just that alone and still be reliable.

and just fyi gorvett and you can mishift in any car and drop a valve. ive done in a B series.

i have driven a few K's but i would take a D over a K anyday
this in my opinion tho

K20s are massively detuned from the factory.

B series have been virtually at their limit in terms of overall performance from day one.

Note how F20s are supposedly "incredible" for having 120hp/litre... yet imo they are almost undriveable around town or similar because they just have no torque or power until you're in the (very short) powerband.

Ks are no doubt going to be the B series swap before long, the prices have some way to come down before they are anything like as affordable. What puts most people off is the fact that it wants completely new mounts etc whereas you can scavenge B parts from a car that came equipped with it from the factory.

I'm not phased either way - I'll take boost over any of them.

I hope when you say d that you have it turbo'd but that takes away from the whole honda idea then doesnt it.
