You have any tips Chance? Whats the best way to learn?

Do what I'm doing, find a riding training course near by and take it, I would love to get a bike and just jump on it, but there are so many things different about riding a bike then driving a car

Agree. Go to your local MSF (http://www.msf-usa.org/) and take a basic course. Once you pass, go to DMV and take your written test as the MSF course ridding portion is completed and pass if you pass the class.

From there, buy safety gears before you buy a bike. Or buy a cheap bike and buy all your safety gears:
1. A good snug fit helmet (get a new one and do not get a used helmet off craigslist)
2. Gloves
3. jacket & pants (textile is cheaper than leather)
4. shoes

and you are set. Happy ridding.

#204027 I don't recommend starting off with a 600 sport bike. Start off with a 250cc and work your way up.

Too many of my freinds have said dont bother with the smaller bikes. I want a 600cc bike. They keep telling me to just get a liter bike. Ill want it in the end anyway. They just say get the bigger bike and learn on it.

That's what a friend of mine was telling me too, he said that you'll want to upgrade sooner then you'll think and to just get a 600, and learn on that, besides you're only going to go as fast as you're comfortable anyway.

Sorry, I lost too many friends with that statement and I hate to hear another one on here. Speed is fun, speed is also violent as you do not control how fast you go. With a flick of the wrist, you are blasting 90 - 100+ easy!

There are reason why you learn small and move up. Yes, you might master the small cc fast, but that doesn't mean you are the expert. You will still drop your next new bike no matter how you say or play it.

I can't control what others say or what you will buy, but i am just saying from experience and what I have to go through. Not a fun experience and not fun when a love one have to call your parents about the bad news.

And you know, I honestly agree with you, I guess that what I said is more so what people have told me, Personally I don't want to get anything huge, I'm still planning on getting something small at first, really thinking on a Ninja 250R or an old Honda VTR250. besides it's usually over confidence that leads to wipe outs lot of the time. I know people will tell me not to bother, or that the small bikes are for girls, but I'd rather play it safe and stay alive, then get something I can't control and kill myself

#204071 i say all u need to know is learn the weight of your bike be conft. with it also learn how to balance and your good ,but also you have to be conft. with your cc of the bike i love my 600gsxr it was my first bike some people learn off dirt bikes and still yet havent rode one and still want to, but after my 600 i bought a hayabusa which is the fastest bike next to the kawaski zx1400 but still having a higher cc bike all depends on you every one knows there limit when they hop on one i lost a friend on one i have one that just got paralize from neck down and i seen my best friend fall right in from of me and wipe out doesnt mean i want to ever ride again because of this mistakes just learn and control your self and R.E.S.P.E.C.T any motorcyle even on the streets give them space even if there speed demons :thumb: i miss my bikes heres my bike i use to have with my egImage
