When i first got my car i paid roughly $225 a month

Now its roughly $60 a month

Insurance here is messed up - ANY change to the car affects your insurance, they well and truely bend us over

Mine went down when I told them I lowered it.

They make it up as they go along lol

In fact, I told them about an engine swap and asked how much extra it would be and they said 'well, probably only £60 or so'... For the best part of another 100hp? Makes no sense at all they could've shafted me but no

Insurance companies in Canada never inspect the vehicle and never require proof of an emissions test. They're insuring your vehicle, they don't care if you can legally drive it on a road or not, that's for the DMV to decide and govern.

My 1.5 LSI was £40 more a month than the 1.6 ESI I'm driving now...

What I can't get is how my dads tax for his 1.8 Pug is less for the year than my 1.6...

This is off-topic, but your DMV doesn't require you to present an emissions certificate and proof of insurance when you go to renew your stickers? Sounds like someone needs to report a Government agency breaking the law...
