#200063 K, decided to start a bulk. I gained 15 lbs last time and cut down 10lbs of that.. I'm currently 180-185ish. Going to bulk to 195-200lbs.
Talked with my buddy that is going to school for health and fitness and is big into lifting (hes huge- gained 100lbs since HS)
Some things he told me (since I'm a hard gainer and dont want to use supps)

I NEED to eat carbs, they are more important than protein.
So here is my Pre and Post workout consumption:
Pre: 8oz chicken breast or Tuna and 2 cups of brown rice (1hr before workout)
Post: 2 scoops of protein blended with 2-3 servings of low fat cereal (like plain captian crunch)

5-6 meals throughout the day (the 'pre' food will count as one of the meals)

Routine:
Monday- Chest , Shoulders, Tri's
Tuesday- Cardio/rest day
Wednesday- Back, Traps, Bi's
Thursday- Abs/core
Friday- Quads, Ham's, Calves
Sat/Sunday- Rest days

I'm picked up a notebook to write the weight I lift, reps and sets. To track my progress. (I haven't do this at all, ever)

Also, I'm cutting out alcohol (REALLY this time) I've decided I want to get more serious about my fitness and alcohol is a huge damper on it.

I'm trying this all out for the next month or two and will track my progress and even post up what I right down as well. Hoping to see good results, I'm really going to push so we'll see!!! This is a game about learning how your body responds, so its fun!

#202040 what are your tips for someone wanting to lose weight but doesn't have much motivation lol.

I told my bf I want to get a bike so I can ride everyday because when it comes to working out I get bored :-/

Plus I work with two ladies and all they talk about is diet this diet that.."I'm on a no sugar diet"...the other lady yells at her 13 year old daughter everyday telling her "Get your fat ass out of bed and on the treadmill!" Her daughter is like a size 2..So yeah I'm tired of being around that..

But what are some breakfasts, lunches, dinners type of items and what not you'd recommend. My boss was eating a pita bread cut in half and then pulled open and she stuffed it with some tuna, lettuce and had that for lunch. I could do that. I just get bored eating kinda the same thing over and over again. Ya know?

Plus I know that you have to eliminate soda but omg..I ....like....soda..haha. At work I stick to drinking water all day and usually if I'm good I'll come home and just have one soda. Is that alright? I don't think I can go cold turkey lol. What are some good alternatives to soda..I need stuff to drink/eat that's not going to be like "Try this oatmeal stick with sesame seeds!" Um..no..that's not going to work lol.

#202083 no motivation and not wanting to diet properly is a fail.

If your serious about loosing weight then dieting is key, my cousin is on a "diet" she is a big woman and the diet is useless, shes paying a stupid amount a month and they send her food, but don't tell her to exercise ?

you would need to make alot of sacrafices within eating and drinking. Shit i used to pretty much be an alcoholic and i don't drink now.

the more exercise the better even if you aren't mental about it then cycling to work, walking whenever wherever and pushing yourself.

-You'll have to be pretty motivated to get out on a bike each day....but if you decide to go that route I'd recommend a fitness/road bike, not a beach cruiser or 'chill' bike like that. Check out BikesDirect.com. That is where I got my fixed gear road bike! Browse the Road bike section there are tons of great priced bikes for everyones budget!!!
-A really good alternative to a bike is an elliptical. You can pick one up at walmart for between $150-250 and most of them come with 'smart workouts' Which increase and decrease the tension to elevate/lower your heart rate for a Great cardio exercise!
-Get some weights or find a cheap gym. The more muscle you have the more calories/fat you burn! Lifting weights wont turn you into one of them dude/chicks lol it will tone and tighten and make you feel better than you ever have! Check out Bodybuilding.com. They have a female fitness section and an excercise guide:http://www.bodybuilding.com/exercises/ pick the muscles you need to focus on and look through those workouts they provide (after you click which muscle you can click 'female' at the top left corner)

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You NEED to eat something to get your metabolism 'jumpstarted'. A low fat/low to sugar free cereal with skim milk and a fruit would be good... Egg whites, whole wheat toast(not buttered!) and fruit. Oatmeal(not the little sugar filled packeds.) Use some cinnamon and like sweet and low or honey to sweeten the oatmeal up!
Try to get 2-3 servings of fruit as a snack before noon. Then switch and eat a few servings of veggies as snacks the rest of the day. Another snack to help curb cravings is Almonds! They are kinda 'expensive but worth it for your health.

Lunch/Dinner....I do the same as your boss ALOT. Whole wheat pita bread, Tuna (canned in WATER not oil) But you can mix it up plenty of different ways! I throw a hard boiled egg white in with the tuna, some tomatoes, lettuce. Chicken breast and ground turkey are AWESOME for taste AND health!

Start getting whole wheat products, noodles, bread, etc...and Brown rice(not instant) White bread and rice metabolizes quicker in your body leaving you hungry sooner.

Just remember you have to eat in moderation/portion control. Eat at least 4-5 small meals a day rather than the traditional BIG 2-3.

Stay away from Candy/cookies/sweets. You can give yourself a cheat day if need be but dont get carried away, only do this once in a long while! Also, in regards to soda. If you can cut it out completely, you will see better/quicker results. It all depends on how bad you want it. One a day isnt TERRIBLE but still is bad. Maybe try every other day. Green Tea with honey is a GREAT alternative! Not the pre-made crap tea like Arizona Ice Tea. I mean the actual packets you have to brew. You can Ice it or drink it hot I love it!

Stay motivated... Honestly once you get past the initial week or two of forcing yourself I promise you will almost CRAVE the fitness/food because you will see how awesome you feel after! Also Log your progress. You need to know how far you come from when you started to keep you motivated!!

GL and ask questions... We are all in this together and here to help each other out!

#202108 Funny you mention bikesdirect.com ... I've been on there for a month now deciding what bike I wanted and toward the beginning of the month I wanted this

Image
$299... I love it!! But it's out of stock till Sept :-/ grrr..

so I'll probably either wait till Sept to get it or I'll get this one (it's the one my bf wants and I'll ride it till I can get the one I want)

Image

My bf rides bmx and loves fixed gears now and recommended I get a single speed incase something breaks then he can easily fix it. He didn't want me getting like a 20 speed or whatever and not being able to fix it. So I decided that was fine that I'll get a single speed and maybe one with a hub that can be swapped around to be a fixed gear. I love the bike but currently I'm the only one working so it's probably going to be quite awhile till I can get the bike...Every month him and a HUGE group of people ride downtown from about 7-12am..I've been wanting to do it just haven't had a bike and would rather not kill myself on a bmx bike..I've ridden one before sorta distant but eh, it kills my knees.

Thanks for all of the advice..I wouldn't mind having a threadmill or elliptical but also live in a tiny apartment. We'll see when I move into the new apartment if we'll have enough room for it. Which I'd rather just get my bike instead of that.

#202190 nah..I hate the rose color..We went to a bike place here and looked at the clockwork..We both decided we don't like it..Going to pick up the timeline when it arrives in Sept. I can wait..Went and looked at other bikes but they had crappy cheap frames.
