If you had 500 to spend

- Tue Aug 03, 2010 8:53 pm #207296 Ok so i have 500 extra to spend on whatever. I was gonna buy a del sol but it was a turd the guy said it was nice until i saw it. My question is if you had 500 to spend on your car what would you get. I have a 95 civic ex 4 dr with a d16z6 in it.

First the car i choose is my white 4dr lx lets pretend its a manual already....

alrighty well lets start off with an auto cross daily
Id buy some aftermarket struts, lowering springs which i say you could budget and get the best bang for your buck for 300-400
so lets say you paid 350 for the strut and shock combo,
150 left buy energy suspension bushing kit for 100 i think it is
50 left
and id use that 50 to use on some maintainance for said car to get the most power out of it....

Now we can go with acceleration go fast stuff
I/H/E
for 500 you can get a decent header, exhaust, and intake if you cheaped out and ebayed it all well you may end up with 200 left which you can use for rear disc and larger front disc as when adding more power you may want to get better stopping power

Or if you really budgeted you could build yourself a junkyard turbo kit for 500 etc....

And finally for show
Lip kit
Ek side skirts if you want
all that you could possibly get for 100-150 tops
so you now have 400 to 350

you could get a entry level ebay hid kit for 100 or so
so now 300 or 250 left

id like to upgrade my seats as well so that could range from 100-175

or yopu could go carbon fiber and get a carbon fiber hood /trunk and go show off....

id also buy either paint for the steelies or some nice honda hubcaps ....

here is how it looks right now

I know im gonna get some springs since i already have new shocks, but i might go with a lip and fix some things it already needs. I wanna turbo it but when i can afford to build a nice setup.

- Tue Aug 03, 2010 11:49 pm #207320 If you skimp out and get cheap suspension(i.e. oem struts and ebay coils) your ride will be very rough and bouncy.

Tokico Blue and Ground Control Coils can be had for around $500. With it will ride quality will be pretty good, Granted not as soft as OEM however still quite nice, with even better handling.

Suspension is the best place to start your mods as its the perfect building block. if you make more power you wont be able to take advantage of it with shitty suspension.

if your going to get a lip, get one in polyurethane, they wont break as easy as the abs plastic ones.

Type-R Lips are pretty cool, however you should get a coupe bumper and then a type-R Lip. Coupe Bumpers on Sedans are where its at.

- Wed Aug 04, 2010 12:18 am #207334 Coupe bumpers do look really good on a sedan. Looks like its hard to made it line up right though. Will 2dr fog lights fit on a 4dr cause they look pretty much the same.

Be smart!!!! Last thing you want is to be posting a topic in the stolen vehicle section. 2nd Club for the steering wheel, ($65) 3rd clutch pedal lock ($50-60) if it's a 5 speed... ... !!!
