Internet censorship!!!

In the United States, a new law proposal called The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) was introduced last week, and there will be a hearing in front of the Judiciary Committee this Thursday.

If passed, this law will allow the government, under the command of the media companies, to censor the internet as they see fit, like China and Iran do, with the difference that the sites they decide to censor will be completely removed from the internet and not just in the US.

- Sun Oct 03, 2010 3:23 pm #216606 I'm assuming that they can only remove the site if it is hosted in the US, cause the bill is only a US bill not an international jurisdiction bill

On a side note, the US is trying so hard to not be like a Communist Dictatorship, it's becoming exactly that, controlling of the masses, and the media, is only one step towards that. your constitution means nothing anymore.

The internet is suppose to be for everybody to express there opinions etc i mean yea theres some things like porn that may need some censorship and a different way to access the sites instead of a enter or exit button ohh yea im 18 thats how easy itd be for a kid to enter one of those sites and yea not so good i think....but yea i agree its becomming to political its starting to be business as usual in the govt offices they think they are doing good because they like the idea or think we the people are for it well the majority isnt and thats the problem they are doing it for themselves now they could care less about the people which this nation was originally founded upon
