everyone here knows that PBR is hillbilly piss in a can..... so maybe, your usual hillbilly consumed a different beverage, resulting in a different taste! :?

I drink PBR as cheap beer
Yuengling and Great Lakes as better beer
And I smoke lucky strikes

As far as I know the hillbilly piss in a can is busch and natty light
PBR is definitely more common here on the east coast
