Post up your storys guys!
I'll go first
I use to be a ricer, I didn't know any better, i'm from Australia everyone was doing it, but with the boom of the internet in the early 2000's I found JDM!
What was I thinking? Veilside style body kit on a Suzuki Swift, not to mention the engine was a 3cyl!! I'm embarrased
and now, JDM is taking over here. Now and then you see a ricer and they get flamed so bad at the traffic lights and I love it.

I rocked a geo metro for a while and wanted to put a body kit on it. I got a 94 Civic Coupe EX and wanted to do similar on it. I put some ebay Halo Projectors on it and thats as far as the rice went. I got into hanging out with former schoolmates and their cars where "JDM" I then ditched the Halos for Black Housing oem style headlights on ebay with amber corners. That pulled me from my ricey phase.
When i got into hondas was the tail end of when "Rice" Was cool.
Everyone here is moving to the "Flush"fad. If they are not flush they are super super low.

This forum name sounds like a tv show
whatever it is that I enjoy doing
I like it clean cut modest and not flashy
Hence sleeper status
The only rice I've participated in was in in the need for speed series

When I was 17 I bought an EK. I swiftly bought a 4" exhaust tip and brought it to a guy and had it welded on (back then I couldn't point at the engine block if was asked. Definitely didn't work on cars). The conversation between me and my friend went as follows:
"Check out my new tip. It's loud as hell"
"Nice man, that thing has to give you around five more horsepower"
"Definitely"
But it was that ricey crapmobile that first got me interested in how cars work. And I think a lot of guys can say the same.
Rice led to interest in cars, led to learning to work on cars, led to building a not rice car.
