2 door car w/ kids - is it as bad as they say?

For those with kids:
People are saying to me "You'll want to get something 4 door" blah blah....
Is it really that horrible having a coupe with a baby to put in/take out all the time? We're getting one of those car seats that hat you can put one base in each vehicle and use the same baby seat. Is my lower back going to hate me that much for considering a coupe?
The only other thing I can think of is when the kid gets old enough to go places, I'll have to get out of the car all of the time to drop off/pick up.

I think the disadvantage of a 2dr with a baby seat is that it takes a lot more work to get it out. Youre reaching back there and then lifting the baby seat in an awkward position. With a 4dr, its definitely much easier since when you open the rear door, the baby seat would be right there

Brian we have one of those graco car seats with two stay in car bases. I just bought a ej coupe for my winter car. would you like pictures? i can take some if you like. personally i think its going to work very well. hatches would have even more room i would imagine.

This is not entirely true even with a 4 door 08 civic getting this thing out is a pain since the latch is in the front. imho reaching this latch and the handle from the front like you would a coupe and hatch would be much easier.

Unfortunately, I won't be keeping the car... no heat, no A/C, no sound deadening and rides like a rock. Not practical for hauling a family
I'm figuring out what will be replacing it. I need something I can drive daily all year.

did you already get rid of the mustang?? did i miss that? cause surely it would be going before the hatch, right?!!?
i've got the perfect trade for it though...

2 Kids , one 1990 RS integra.. lowered and all that. Kids came out pretty good.. Smart little ones.
In other words it's not as bad as they say.. just have to make sure that passenger seat can slide up when it reclines forward

I dunno if its all that bad, my parents did the two door thing with me and my 2 sisters. only with a 92 323 Hatch. Then they did it with a 95 Tercel. Then my dad did it with an EK Hatch. They didn't complain all to much let alone at all, and we kids were and are just fine

Those seats with multiple bases are the shit! I had one in my ef hatch and I just had to reach in and lift it out. My girlfriend hardly even complained abou it so it must not have been too bad.
Now that my daughter is 3, I just open the door and slide the seat forward. She climbs up into the seat and I can fit in-between her and the front seat with plenty of extra room to buckle her up.
I figure that when she's old enough to be out of the seat, she'll be able to slide the seat forward and open the door herself.

I have always owned coupes or 2 door cars and Have had 2 kids when they are young it is a bit of a hassle. Cause of the car seats but when they hit 4 they can get in and out on their own. 4 doors are nice for them getting in and out and what not but it will be fine either way.

i love the 4 doors....but thats just me...and i still think yu should keep the hatch...you will regret it in a couple years when your kids are old enough to get in and out by them self and you dont have yur car anymore...the way i look at it is....you either deal with it for about 3-4 years or so....or get rid of it and im sure yud never get it back either...and once again..this is coming from a 4door owner..lol..just my .02
