About 2:30am I was in the city and thought I'd do a favour and drive 2 friends home from a party

I was pulled over, and the police on duty checked over my car. He gave me a defect noticed for my car for "being too low", anyone who knows me knows I mod my car within specs. The law states I may lower my ride height only if it's 100mm off the ground which it is, except for my beaks bar which is 90mm from the road. Therefore the office should say I should remove my beaks bar.

Fair enough, I said to him, okay I will remove my beaks bar and it will be within spec, he said "don't say anything or you will embarrass myself" I clearly tried to explain myself several times but he kept shutting me up.

On the defect notice it says

1. "vehicle 100mm suspension to be returned to stock" instead of saying, I should remove my beaks bar

2. "Vehicle to be noise tested", i'm using a twin loop muffler, original design by MUGEN! Which is a sub company off Honda which in fact would mean it's a factory option and they designed it for street use and it is within noise limit! (I tried to explain that to him and wouldn't listen)

I went to the police station to fix this problem at the "ground level", I asked if I may email this officer, I was told he would just delete my email. Only way to fix this is to take it to court which will be $1000 and up which is not worth it.

So far my expenses:
$88 vehicle modifications do not comply with standard
$40 for Bridgestone to adjust my coilovers to standard height ( I don't have the right keys)
$50 blue slip for inspection to see if car is within specs

= $178

Currently I am not working at the moment, I start back in March. In the meantime I receive centrelink from the government which is $420 a fortnight which leaves me $242 after my defect, when you have bills, petrol, rent, food to pay, it doesn't leave me with much.

I figured I was on the same side as the police, seeing that I was a 1st year apprentice mechanic, I donate blood, I'm polite and have a clean criminal record.

If this keeps going, I'll sell my Civic and forced to buy something stock

I got pulled over in California for being to low.. our law is 22inches from the middle of the headlight to the ground. I don't know what it was but I was way under.. my cars Jack points were like 4 inches off the ground.. and he said I had a modified exhaust it was stock with a stock tip.. I know ur pain minus the $$$$ tho

So why can't you just remove the Beaks bar and then take the car to be inspected? If the car is 100mm w/o the bar, I think that it would be alright.

I hate when cops are dicks... I used to get f'd with all the time when I was living in a certain town. In the 2 places I have lived since then, I have never been harassed.

damn sucks when you hear about cops harassing people even worse when your the one in the situation. I feel you all the tickets I've gotten i was never guilty for...1st was DUI i wasn't drinking but i still got taken to jail i fought it and dropped to running stop light $600 for fees+ public attorney
2nd tail lights were off i tried fixing on the spot because i knew it was just a simple fuse but he threatened to tow my car if i didn't stop talking $35
3rd supposedly running a stop sign i was driving slower than my grandma and i had my daughter and wifey in the car i explained to him there was no way i ran it i would never put my daughter in danger or risk our lives, a$$**** didn't care and also said my insurance expired which clearly showed on my paperwork was up to date....$1,700 fought it and payed $500 yay
and today cop cut me off at the stop sign while i was proceeding to go without sirens or warning with my baby in the car!!!

it doesn't matter what you drive cops are dicks and ignorant pricks who hold themselves above the law i love my country but have no respect for these pieces of **** i have more stories and history and my own view but i feel these car related incidents are enough i need to rant about.

ps. the 1st one was when i had my lexus sc400 2nd was my EG and 3rd was with my Prelude

Figured Id post these up, They are the CA laws to car modification. 3 of the main ones I've heard people getting pulled over for. I don't have any links but look them up and next time you can school the cop because they don't know shit. Well as long as your within spec xP

The cop wrote on the papers "return to stock height" just to make it difficult for me, even tho I explained to him it is above 100mm without the beaks bar. He was just abusing his power, and because I politely explained to him he was wrong, he didn't like it and gave me the $88 fine. It's frustrating!!

That sucks man. There's always a few of them dickheads on duty.
