Something I'm noticing as I get older and as more of my friends get married...
It seems like when guys get married, they have a space or a room in the house that is "their territory". A place where they get to furnish it to their liking without their significant other's opinion. A place where they can chill with their buddies, bs, and have a cold one. Perhaps a place to get some space from the old lady?
Some things I see in rooms like these: A computer, mini fridge, old couch or chairs, posters, dart board, beer sign, old tv. Basically a "man room"
My dad used the garage as the man room. He equipped it with cable, it had an old tv & radio, mini-fridge, heat, posters and a couple stools at a work bench. He would bring his laptop out there to work & did his TV watching out there, and could take a break any time and jump onto his chevelle he was restoring.
My married friends (all 2 of them) have a similar place. One has his computer in a spare room with his models, signs, stereo...
another one uses their partially finished basement. His reminds me of a big dorm room with a futon, computer, stereo, posters everywhere...
Even my fiance's dad has a workshop in the grungy basement of their old home, and that's his space with all his tools, beer fridge, girl calendar, etc.
Is this the norm for guys once we get married? To have a space of our own to hide from the wife & hang out with our friends?
But it seems like women don't have interest in such a place
They prefer to use the nice dining room or living room to visit with their friends.
