hello, i just bought a 97 preludge with the DOHC VTEC H22A? , just wondering on if those motor get any problems and how is the MPg and quality of engine ??? does anyone know the HP on them ?? thanks

from what i understand the H22A is a pretty good motor.. they consider it to be Honda's "big block"... im not sure on the gas mileage though.

yeah it looks preety heavy, the 97 luge is stock just header,ehxaust,cams,pulleys.

does anybody know what the puleys, and the cams do ??

they are all red and say aem , the 2 cams , and the pw sterring and belt pulleys are also and red, does it help in any way ?

Having "Cams" and "pulleys" IMO makes the car not stock.

Anyways the Cams control how long your intake and exhaust valves stay open. Sounds like you have AEM Cams. As for the pullys they are probally low restance pullys containing your belts.

so it just has stock CAMS with after market pulleys and CAM GEARS

with IHE its not really going to make that much of a difference but with the right equipment it can make decent power

the car stock it self makes 200hp to the fly wheel

could always get Type S cams from JDM prelude and slap them in there with Type S springs and retainers

yeah stock meaning nothing special , just cam GEARS and pulleys i think 4 of the and the belt pulley, so theydont really do anything ? ok

AEM power pulleys or what ever they are called makes a few hp by taking weight off the alternator belt and ac belt etc... i dunno if you'll notice it drive a bone stock one and then drive yours and see if you can see the difference

yeah it my first prelude, once i saw the engine and how great it runs thats what sold me , its slap stick meaning no clutch u just hit the gearits very fats so far i have gotten the 2 and tires still spun , vtec hits alot harder then on my sohc, great car might sel it as i bough it for 2350

its pretty stupid to just buy a car without knowing weather the engine is good or not, do research next time so you don't make a stupid mistake.

dude no really ?? i know how to buy cars and my question isisnt WHAT it is , is if theres any common problems with the cars, like our eg's have the main relay and bunch of other problems !!! thanks for being nice :roll:

and ive never had a problem with a main relay on my eg.

you asked what the hp was, and that was part of my answer, READ better next time noob. And if you were so concerned about problems with the car that you needed to post it, why would you buy it prior to knowing.

You asked first of all what the motor was like as you explain you know F/A about it...

dude im asking if the engines are reliabole and run long and if they have any common bearing problmes and if vtec s god on them , and what i sayd about it sold me is that he started it cold and it was quite and no banging noise, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
