#53875 we're arguing about this at work right now, looking for some more opinions...

If you had AIDS infected water and you boiled it, would you drink it?

bingo, that was my take. unless you bite the inside of your mouth really bad and you're bleeding, you're ok IMO.

I'd still boil it though!

#53890 I would not boil it and still drink it...why you ask??

Cuz its a trick question....AIDS is the set of symptoms and infections resulting from HIV.....so the water would have to be tainted with HIV not AIDS....

Hahaha....Did I win the prize?

#53927 Im a bio major and this questions is fun =] Blood, breast milk, semen, pre-seminal fluid, and vaginal secretions can transfer the aids/hiv virus.

Saliva, tears, sweat, fecal matter, mucus, ear wax or any other crazy stuff you can think of  . Cannot. The material doesnt have enough volume of the virus for it to infect. You would have to drink a few gallons of someones saliva or sweat etc. to contract the virus.

Im no medical doctor but, thats what a doctor told me. :thumb:
Dont go around licking or eating sweat and earwax. One its gross. Two you never know. Its just very unlikely :)

SO saying that there was infected water, and you could contract it, but you boiled it. hmmm. Viruses are mostly Dna, or in this case HIV is Rna. An Rna virus is one nasty critter. Ebola is another. ANYWAYS  The bioling water would probably destroy any proteins. Sure why not drink it! YUMMMM :woot:.....falls over dead... ooooops =]

#54004 Just to give my South African 2c as to the rest of the world im a criminal with AIDS LOL, 7-10% of our population infected. That notion is just because people are ignorant, u should be more scared of the flouride they put in ur water when they purify it than, wwwhhhooo 'AIDS INFECTED WATER'.

What iv learnt in our 'education' of the HIV/AIDS virus is that it cant survive outside the body. The air, water or any other fluid outside the body is a hostile environment for the Virus and dies off. But always boil ur water if ur not shure its safe to drink.
