Honda Cancels New NSX

Amidst a troubled global economy, Honda is actively scaling back its operations, and its performance programs are sadly bearing the brunt. After canceling its participation in Formula One and the AMA motorbike road racing series, the Japanese automaker has reportedly announced that it is nixing development of the next-generation NSX supercar.

The unfortunate news will undoubtedly come as a stunning disappointment for the loyal legions of Honda/Acura sportscar fans. The new NSX, which looked to be nearing the end of its development on the road to production, was slated to be the most powerful car ever made by Honda, driven by an anticipated 560-horsepower V10.

According to Autocar, the goal-line audible came from none other than Takeo Fukui, Honda's CEO, who dropped the bombshell as part of a end-of-year speech to the troops. The news also means that Honda is suspending plans to finally bring the Acura nameplate to Japan, and it also calls into doubt the fate of the V10 engine itself, as well as any long-rumored V8 powertrains.

Honda hasn't ruled out the possibility of picking up where it left off once business is back in order, but in the meantime the original NSX, which ceased production in 2005 after fifteen years on the market, will have to remain without an heir.

Yup so far, Honda has pulled out of both F1 and the AMA super bike series.

Mitsubishi, Subaru, and Suzuki, have pulled out of the WRC

And i've heard, but haven't read for myself that both Porsche and Audi have either pulled out or are planning on pulling out of the American LeMans series...

Yes n ill keep my honda even though i own a chevy s10....well lets just say it just goes to show american domestics dont last...its a freaking 96 and already in not to great shape lol even a beaten up 96 civic would look better than this truck and be a little cheaper to fix lol....

And if it came down to getting a $1000 rebate on my taxes if i bought American so to speak....well I dont think id do it anyhow you see the cars they building lol we need someone to create another american car company that builds with quality integrity and sticks with it....build cars to last!

And on the thread note....
The NSX will be greatly missed from the honda/acura line-up however i was not full force on thinking that would be the best design for it but who am i too judge never driven one to begin with....

They're going bust because you guys wont buy from their dealerships and buy from the black market instead, known as eGay.

new one looked like shit anyways. It does suck that they pulled out of F1 and AMA. Are they still in MotoGP?

Audi have pulled out of ALMS, I haven't heard anything about Porsche.

Hilariously, some people seemed to think that this would mean that Audi would begin an F1 campaign. Sure, financial crisis, just go and launch into an even MORE expensive series, from one where they were at the front
