Overwhelming Spam Lately?

- Mon May 01, 2017 1:43 pm #425438 Anything we can do to to help prevent all this spam? I login and click unread post and see 50 pages of 'check out my essay writing site', 'some garbled Russian text', 'watch my pr0n channel'

Maybe Google's reCaptcha or some email verification or something else on account creation to help keep these bots off the page. Google has the invisible reCaptcha now, which I use on my business page, and the front end users are completely unaware of it.

We got bombed with spam like never before. The General forum had something like 60k essay spam posts. I started cleaning them up, ran into some DB problems and got those fixed, then deleted the rest. I'm still not sure how it happened, but I changed the forum settings so that each new member must be manually approved by me in the meantime :werd: Things seem to be back to normal since :thumb:
