hi all my name is paul, im from peterhead in scotland. i am organising a viewing of a civic eg 1.6 vtec, the 130bhp hatchback model. so far the owner has told me that the car runs perfect which i believe, it needs some bodywork done to get rid of some rust which i am willing to do. just thought id ask what kind of problems i should look out for when i go to view the car this weekend?

any help would be great

Paul

welcome :D . and i would look for oil leaks, maby take a compression tester and check that. drive it on the streets and take it on the freeway and get it up to speed and listen for weird noises. look for any damages to the car, and look under it for bad rust spots. and so on. ask questions like what he did to it, how he drove it etc. think of it as buying a new car of the lot. i mean its not gonna be perfect but think on those guidlines.

i belive its a d16z6. when you get ther look at the engine stamp. if your facing the engine, on your left side of the block you will see the stamp. thats what engine is in ther :thumb:

went to see the car today. all looks well :thumb:

needs a little attention to the bodywork but apart from that its a sound car. engine runs sweet with no weird rattles, knocking or leaks. underneath is solid but will waxoyl it when i get it home.

picking it up for a measly £150 in a weeks time and will post some pics for all to see :)

not sure if it is such a good find though, ill post pics after i pick it up to let you all see the damage. it is very fixable but will take a lot. a lot of people may say its not worth it but the way i look is...... its keeping another jap car on the road :D

so much rust so little time haha
