- Sun Nov 09, 2008 9:40 pm #77969 I think the Cat on my VX is toast(476500km) would it make a difference to running or emmisions if I put a generic cat in downstream of the OEM cat and probally hollow out the oem one? the OEM style cat is to much money to spend on a $50 car *L*

- Mon Nov 10, 2008 2:12 pm #78078 They had to put the cat right on the exhaust manifold on the VX and HX so that it will get hot and stay hot enough to effectively clean the high amount of NOx that these lean burn motors put out. A downstream cat isn't as effective.
