i've seen a few cars here and there with "white pipe wrap" on the header , from what i understand it keeps the head out of the engine bay and does actually add performance , plus in my opinion it looks pretty bad ass under the hood . has anyone seen this , or done this ?

all it does is reduce heat under the hood
it doesnt had hp or anything like that
or my whole motor would be wrapped
lol

header wraps on turbo mani are to make them get hotter allowing exhaust to flow out faster and add a few hp. does the same for NA setups i just doubt you would notice a gain

(moving since this has to do with engines in general and not the coupe chassis)

no prob... it will help more people read your post :thumb:

since the header will retain more heat, I thought I read before that wrapping turbo manifolds can void the warranty :? It could lead to premature cracking

i duno turboing in itself seems like way to much for really not all that much ...i know im guna get slammed by people who im sure have well built turbo b's and d's and im down , in my opinion is what i mean turboing is not for me im more of a keep it simple stupid sorta guy all motor all the time . hey if i did my research and had time to do it right im sure i could run a great turbo car i just like the simplicity of all motor wich is why the pipe wrap came up - performance on all motor side ....i would imagine it would void a warranty . i wonder if it voids header warranty's too ?

thats wat i was thinking
if you had a pair of ebay headers and you wrapped them
would they crack or the weld give out quicker??

or just headers in general...

damn im all mixed up now haha
i in general am thinking less heat in engine bay = performance
now im thinking i might crack some welds or hut the rest of my piping if i do that you know . hmm i may google it
