Man I know I seen someone with a topic about this or something similar...So I was driving to my parents house last night and my battery light came on and then my car died. Didn' t have a light with me...I was pretty sure it was my altnernator power wire that came loose..It did that to me before!

But anyway I got it to my parents house after me and my dad got a spare battery to get me there... So this morning after work I pulled the alternator out (just to be sure it wasn't just the wire) and took it to the local Kragen Autoparts so they could test it and it passed..
I tighted everything back up and now I thought everything was gonna be good to go...Nope still the same shit!! Am I missing something here.. I will try and check the fuse box and wires again but I think I need some help from my Civic-Eg Fam!!! :) :?

Sorry for the long ass post!

Thats wierd as shit. so the alternator is not charging the battery? tried a volt meter on the battery with car off and also running?

how are your engine grounds?

Did you check all your fuses? (There is a fuse for the alternator under the dash)

it can pass the test but fail to supply your car with enough juice to keep it going. especially at night when its under a heavier load than normal with lights and such running

start it and pull the battery to check and see if its the alternator for sure.

NO! do not start it and pull the battery theres a chance you could send a surge to your ecu...... anything past 1990 has this chance!

its your alternator! get it replaced

reason being if all your connections are good and the car dies when you are driving it's the alternator due to the fact that you were driving off the power that the battery had left in it. when you put in the other battery your car had power until it drained it from driving. most likely like some1 i believe said b4 it prolly the voltage regulator not reading that the battery is dying and therefore it not chargin the battery. we have internal voltage regulators so just replace the whole thing.

see now if it was the battery your car wouldnt die while it was driving due to the alternator keeping the charge of the vehicle weather the battery is bad or not.

battery bad = alternator staying on
good battery =alternator kicking on and off when needed
bad alternator but good battery = car dying and leads up to bad battery cuz batteries arent designed to be drained all the way multiple times

let me kno if this helps

didnt mean to call you out but you are correct to a extent ... older cars werent ran off the alternator so therefore back then you COULD do this correct but now b.c the alternator runs everything you can't. (you may get lucky and nothing happens sometimes but it can happen)

its sounds like the Alternator... my integra did that and it still passed autozone's alternator test.

i drove around with that light on for a while and i think my system fucking killed my alternator . but if you have a D series alternators should be readily easy to get. test another alternator i wouldnt trust someone checking it.. because i went to 3 diff autozones and 2 oriely's... all the autozone said it passed but 1 of the oriely's said it was too low...
