#162531 well, this started a couple days ago and i thought that shitty gas was the culprite, but i guess not....

the car idles fine, seems to drive fine. but once i'm trying to hold a steady speed like going 60 down the highway with my foot barely on the gas it gets chunky. shes had a recent tune up with new plugs, wires, cap, rotor.

you guys think it may be my injectors or fuel pump/filter. it only runs "chunky" when trying to hold a steady speed. car runs fine/strong at WOT. whats the deal here folks???

#162616 any input?

I hope its something with the fuel system as i plan on getting bigger injectors, a walbro pump, and fresh fuel filter here real soon.

is it possible that this is a timing issue??

#162625 ya. it'll slightly sputter/misfire but it will instantly go away if i give it more gas or of course let off.

and it does NOT have a issue with holding a RPM in neutral. only at a steady speed in gear. No signs at all when accelerating or with a downshift and "engine braking". :?

#162634 and it could be a possible going bad o2 sensor... I was a dumbass and used non sensor safe rtv for my tps and it made it do that.

#162651 sounds like low fuel pressure. do u have any gauges intalled to check? id rerplace the filter then drive. did u let the tank get really low or run out recently?

hasn't run out of fuel... and when i first noticed it, i did check my FP and it was at it's normal 42ish (has a guage)

if its the timing like egsedanguy suggests, what would cause the sudden change? a sign of the timing belt "due"?? I was planning on doing timing belt/ water pump before i boost anyway...

thanks for the input guys

#162688 be on the safe side and replace the fuel filter. Wont hurt to have a new one any way. After that you should check the pump itself. you will want to make sure fuel pressure under load is still good.

#162765 i think the fuel pressure is fine. if it has bad pressure he would have loss in power. he says its running chunky or stutering. making poping noises. that would be related to timing. but yes i would goahead and replace the filter but i would still start with the timing. just need a timing light and 5 min to check it. :)

#162899 my car had low fuel pressure and would get like he states. Its an easy check to do. why not do it?

i picked up a filter. gonna put it on monday.

so your saying you had a similar problem? and it would seem perfectly fine/normal at WOT? gonna go ahead and check the timing too when i do the filter. gonna order my walbro this week also.

been shopping around a bit for injectors also.. if i get some, i need to wait to put them in till the entire turbo setup is on and ready for dyno. right? like, cant put them on without a base map set for them?

thanks again for the input fellas :thumb:

#162956 I know we had a discussion on this in your other thread, but I don't remember. What spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor did you buy?

Nothing competes with OEM or NGK wires when it comes to stock performance on up to around 400-500fwhp depending on...well...everything in your setup.

Spark plugs should be ZFR5F-11, NGK V-power copper plugs. Anything else and the engine won't run very well. Bosch and it won't run worth a shit (trust me...made that mistake before...).

Cap and rotor, if you can afford the $45, ought to be OEM or bust. Again, fear not. The OEM distributor and all of it's related parts are good up to about 400-500fwhp. Honestly, VatoZone or Hoe'Reilly's parts won't last you very long. I had a "brand new" REMFG distributor from O'Reilly's on my last 'Teg. It lasted about 5,000 miles and then took a shit. On a stock engine that never saw more than 4K rpm even after I fixed it.

Fuel filter definitely wouldn't hurt either :thumb:

#163584 changed the fuel filter today. the old one definitely was due, it was heavy as shit. took the car around the block a few times trying to make it do the sputter and it didn't! really hope thats all it was.

thanks for the help guys :thumb:

I'll update after a good highway cruise...
