Ok I know I have power, fuel pump turns on brand new 255. Starter works took it out and checked it, plus you can hear it trying to do something. but the car will not turn over? I just put this motor in and can not figure this out. You can hear the starter engage and click but won't turn the motor over. Any help would mean the world.

did you try to jump the battery yet? A battery can have enough juice to prime a fuel pump or make a radio work, but not enough juice to crank a motor.

Checked spark plugs? or HT leads, could be an electrical problem, check for cracks in all your electrical components. could cause the electricity to jump to earth rather than reach your distibutor, be worth checking your coil pack aswell. Hope this helps :thumb:

One of the easiest things to do is to replace the grounds that go from the body to the engine. Poor grounds can be the hardest thing to troubleshoot yet the easiest to just replace. Make sure you have a bare metal surface No paint or corrosion and use a new wire. I like to use wd 40 on all bare metal surface ground connections because it will help prevent further corrosion and keep the connection good for a long time.

i usually troubleshoot this problem with jumper cables itsa quick and easy way to troubleshoot unsufficient ground. clip the neg batt terminal and on the same wire other end clip the starter anywhere cept the spot covered and protected by rubber, if it works get yourself some gold plated terminals and reground that shiz! :thumb:

Hook a ground wire from your tranny to the chassis. Almost garuntee that'll fix your pproblem.

This is a dead give away to the ground wire i stated before. You'd be suprised athow many cars come through our shop with this issue. hook up one ground and the problem is solved.

Agreed. I'm ase and mecp certified for electronics and the first thing you always want to do is make sure the ground is solid. Grounds vibrAte loose or corrode over time and will frustrate the heck out of you. The before mentioned jumper cable trick may work to troubleshoot but you likely won't get a very good connection unless you clean things which you may as well just fix em for piece of mind.
