#23841 So I have intake that sits where it normally sits. Will i get any power gain if i add an elbow and take it under the hole in front of the wheel? And many people also tell me to abandon the AEM filter and get K&N. Is that the best filter?

#23843 the aem filter is made by K&N. so i see no reason to replace it.

as far as the extra elbow to get to the fender for more power.

what you are referring to is a cold air intake. It draws air from the foglight area getting a colder air. Cold air molecules are much more packed together than Hot air which is why it can generate more power if the air is cooler in the engine combustion chamber.

A downfall is that the filter is can suck in water because it is so low. =*under extreme rain conditions*

#23847 Also, what about disadvantages due to the longer length of time it takes the air to get to the engine? I've heard this can affect performance, but is it really noticable? I'm in the same position, wanna upgrade my air system, not sure to go SRI or CAI.

Cold air intake = top end power
Short ram intake = low end and throttle response.

Personally, I run the SRI, and probably always will. :thumb:

Makes sense, as unless you're spending 90% of your time dragging or street-racing, you won't need that much top-end power. I think I'll look into SRI then, as I've been hearing more good things about it :)

#23853 Gotta figure too......once the cars in motion, you've got fresh air being pushed into the engine bay anyway. :thumb:

werd, i run the short ram and love it, it could be 100 degrees outside and i could still tell a difference in power. short ram FTW

#23970 So about getting SRI. Don't you need hood scoops for that?

#23973 no. the air comes through the gap where you hood latches...short rams give you a much better sound than the full systems at least in my opinion

#25198 some of the best dyno results I've seen have come from the AEM CAI for ITR. The piping on that thing is just huge! Now of course you want to mount it up to a good sized TB and Intake Mani.
