General engine questions/issues that aren't specific to the other categories

#67299 Hey guys,

New to the honda scene and to the forum, I've got a question about B18 exhaust.

I have a 93 Integra LS with full exhaust from the header back. It's on a B18A1. I know that from the axle back won't fit, but will the header and catback bolt onto a 94 Civic Coupe? The civic is a D15B7.

Is there anything from my teg that would bolt on to the civic? I won't be driving the integra anymore and it has plenty of aftermarket goodies.

Also, is there a specific torque measurement on these cars when doing spark plugs? I've heard from a friend that you need to torque them to a specific ft-lb.

Ok from the top. B series and D series exhausts are completely different somewhat. B=more power > Larger bore size of piping. Wont fit, because the bore is too big and your D series engine will lose a lot of pressure. You could sell the exhaust and buy one suited to your D15b7.

If you have rear brake rotars, assuming that both car's don't have ABS, strip the braking components and swap them on to your civic, this will create a good base for a project car if you were to swap out the D15 or if you decided to tune/boost.

Also not too sure about the tq measurements for changing spark plugs, but I always do them hand tight and never have a problem. Just make sure you don't wrench them in at the start do it all by hand, and then tighten with a wrench. This will ensure that your plugs will not sit bent and cross threads

#67361 Thanks guys.. Looks like I have a teg to part out. I did the plugs today and snugged em up just fine.

#68331 Yes of course there is a torque spec for the spark plugs. And being that it's an aluminum head, it's quite important. If you've ever owned a car where some idiot stripped the spark plug threads and you had to pull off the head and re-thread it then you'd buy the Haynes manual or download the Helms.

The spark plug's second duty besides firing spark is to transfer heat out of the combustion chamber. If it's not torqued properly then it wont function properly.
