Civic EG

Hi everybody, well basically my temp gauge seems to always sit just below half or quite below half, and this is when I'm in full VTEC redlining and it's like the coolant isn't at optimum temp. Why could this be? I have a EJ2 Coupe with a B18c4 with a pipercross dry air foam filter and Skunk2 pro series intake mani and a stage1 map for my bits and bobs.

also what are your guys heater matrix/core's like, do they blow out hot hair or just luke warm like mine?
It's getting really cold now so I was wondering how to get hotter air, my mates 96 EK hatch, his heater's get really nice and toasty.

My gauge never reads over half way up. its sits just at the bottom of the wierd lil symbol. I get hella hot air blowing out if I put it on all heat.

Same here, always just below 1/2.

If your heater is pushing out luke warm air, it could be a gunked up heater core (calcium deposits can build up over the years) or maybe a previous owner installed a lower temperature thermostat.

I too was thinking that a low-temp thermostat could be the issue but the chasis also has 114k on it too so maybe the gunk has come about loll but to be honest, the coolant was bled about 5-10 times to ensure consistency.

Would the dash need to come out to clean out any calcium deposits if there were any? and what would be the best way to clean out the core?

put some card board over like half of you radiator thats what i do in the winter that way more heat gets carried to the heater core and not the atmosphere.

O.K i'll give it a try, but in the U.K most of the time it's cold, so I don't think I want cardboard stuck to my radiator for too long despite how good it may turn out to be so maybe a temp fix. thanks for the input
