how does a spun bearing occur?

could be a number of things
runnin it out of oil
poor assembly

i did find alot of gold paint inside the oil pan and valve cover, the last ownr painted the valve cover gold, and it chipped off everywhere....

its possible that a paint chip or some other debris got sucked into an oil passage and blocked it, leaving the bearing 'dry'.

most common way to spin a bearing in a d16 is rev it hard when oil is low.

that makes alot of sense. since there was so much paint inthere, thanx dude.
