I did something stupid today! I was in hurry in the morning but i had to fill in some oil.

Then i forgot to put the oil cap back on...

I've driven maybe 30km in the whole day! There still is enough oil in the oilpan.

Do I have to expect some damage to the engine??

A while back my mom got her oil changed and the assholes didnt put the oil cap on and she never checks it so she had hers off for about 2 weeks with no problems. not good but under certain circumstances it shouldnt be that bad

- Fri Dec 05, 2008 1:10 am #82079 I drove 50 miles with the oil cap off.... Oil was everywhere in my engine bay.. .and i just cleaned it.... The cap got lodged in one of my motor mounts so I just put it back on.. topped it off with oil... and everything was fine

But the cap is lost! I have to buy a new one! But better than buying a new engine!
