#269717 Hello, I pulled out the cluster in my civic and pulled the needle from the speedometer to paint it and I put it back and it didn't go on right because it hovered at 40km, I pulled it off and managed to set it back up so the needle rests at zero, will the speedo ever show accurate speed or should I get a new one?

#269719 needs to be recalibrated.

The best way to calibrate is to pull the needle and "manually" calibrate by getting to a certain speed, sustaining said speed and slap the needle back on the pin pointing at the correct MPH reading.

NOTE: this is intended for those individuals who have installed aftermarket gauge faces and needed to remove the speedometer needle.

This is a do at your own risk procedure, I am in no way responsible for any damages you do to your speedometer!!!

In any Eg based model civic. the best and most accurate way to recalibrate your cluster once needles have been removed is to do this:

1. you need a navigation unit

2. drive a sustained speed in final gear (the faster you go, the more accurate you will be)

3. take note of your rpm for that given speed. (example: 120Kmh, 5th gear, XXXX RPMS)
- this is where the GPS come into play. Make sure you record speed from the GPS and
NOT THE CLUSTER in question of needing to be calibrated

4. jack front of car in the air

5. speedometer needle must be OFF in order to continue to the next step

6. Reach the RPMS which you noted in step 3 while in 5th gear

7. Install needle on speedometer at noted KMH/MPH in step 3

8. take for a test drive and test speed with GPS

Remember the faster you go in step 2, the more accurate the speedometer will be throughout the entire gauge.

#269725 so if I drive at 100kmh using a GPS unit as a guide and put the needle in at 100km on the cluster it should be good?

Thats a good method I usually just drive with the plastic off the gauge cluster lol and set it like that but I like your method :thumb:
