Help me find my vacuum leak...

I first though my brake booster was going bad, but after further analysis I have figured out I have a vacuum leak some where close to the firewall.
After searching today, I found one hose that was open, as you can see in the pick below circled in RED.
Is this supposed to be open and what is it supposed to be?
Thanks!

And that amp wire that the previous owner cut is annoying me, it'll be gone this weekend.

While the car is running spray the suspected areas with carb clean, if your idle raises then you have found were its leaking from.

+1 This is the way you find a leak.
That hose in your pic is not the reason. I don't know what it is for but I have the same open hose and my idle is perfect.

My idle is totally perfect and the car runs great. Even the MPG is great.
My car is a 95 civic DX AUTO, I imagine its the original motor, but i did buy the car used from a dealer, so no telling what the previous owner did.

if the idle is perfect, then what symptoms made you think it is a vac leak?

When the hood is open I can hear the vacuum leak.

A vacuum leak WILL mess with your idle.
Any chance you're just hearing your intake whistleing??

This sound is coming from really close to the firewall.

sometimes a hissing noise can be coming from the throttle body. I've heard it on a lot of civics, including mine.

That sounds like it could me in my case too. If it is coming from the throttle body is this something I should worry about?
